Team USA will certainly look different next year! I am so excited to have earned a spot on the team. I know I didn’t get here alone. Some people pave a way, others open the door, but @khadijahtriathlete propped the door open and held our hands the entire way. I want to be a beacon for others just as she has been.

Training was just heating up and I go and try to bounce off the pavement. For the last 4 days everyone has asked if I felt better. I did not. It was depressing. Then today, I woke up and decided not to feel sorry for myself. I’m going to stop with the ice cream and the comfort food and replace them with healing foods. I will be back at it in no time and the extra weight will just make me feel bad.

I’m ready to race! Tracking info in my stories! There are 3 Hijabi triathletes on this course and we are here to represent!

#eidmubarak to you and your family from #texas where I am participating in USAT Multisport Championship with three other amazing Hijabi triathletes. To share this experience with others who know the struggles of training through #Ramadan and racing fasted. I am truly honored to be in their presence. Tomorrow I get to go out there and lay it all out. I’m excited to get back out there and sorry that I waited this long to get back to it!

A day and night in Paris…. It was never my dream to be here, it was never a thought or a consideration. My daughter, while sitting in her Freshman university orientation heard two words that made her face light up, “Study Abroad “. With that, she made the grades, submitted the forms and did all the tasks she had to do to qualify for the program despite being a Freshman in her second semester. I confessed to her that I too considered studying abroad but at the time, I was too afraid to pursue it. She looked at me and said, “Mom, I’m scared too but I’m going to do it anyway”. I told her that was the definition of bravery. I’m so proud of her and because of her bravery, I saw 7 cities in Europe in 7 days. I had the trip I never dreamed of having because she had the courage to step out of her comfort zone and despite it all, she did it anyway..
